The Buy Numbers page lets you request new phone numbers for your account. Depending on your setup, numbers may be purchased directly from carrier inventory or submitted as a request for the provider to fulfill.

How Number Purchasing Works

VoiceCenter uses a carrier abstraction layer for number provisioning. The process works as follows:

  1. You search for available numbers by country, type, and area code
  2. You select the numbers you want
  3. An order is created and submitted for fulfillment
  4. The order is processed through the active carrier adapter
  5. Numbers are assigned to your account and appear in My Numbers

Client users submit number requests that the provider reviews and fulfills. You will not be charged until the provider approves and provisions the numbers.

Requesting Numbers

  1. Navigate to Numbers and select Buy Numbers

From the main navigation, click Numbers and select Buy Numbers.

  2. Search for available numbers

Use the search filters to find numbers:

    FilterDescription
CountrySelect the country for the number
    TypeLocal, mobile, national, or toll-free
Area CodeFilter by specific area or city code
    QuantityHow many numbers you need
  3. Select numbers from the results

Browse the available numbers and select the ones you want. Each number shows its monthly price and any one-time setup fee.

  4. Add notes or requirements (optional)

Include any special requirements with your request, such as:

    • Consecutive number ranges
    • Specific digit patterns
    • Regulatory requirements or documentation you can provide
  5. Submit the request

Click Submit Request. Your request is sent to the provider for review and fulfillment.

Order Tracking

After submitting a request, you can track its status on the My Number Requests page.

StatusDescription
PendingRequest submitted, awaiting provider review
In ProgressProvider is processing and provisioning the numbers
FulfilledNumbers have been provisioned and assigned to your account
Partially FulfilledSome numbers were provisioned; others may be unavailable
RejectedRequest was declined (with a reason from the provider)

A background fulfillment worker processes pending orders through the active carrier adapter, so orders move from pending to fulfilled without manual intervention once approved.

Pricing

Number pricing consists of two components:

CostDescription
Setup FeeA one-time charge when the number is provisioned
Monthly FeeA recurring charge for as long as the number is active

Prices vary by country, type, and carrier. The exact pricing is displayed when you search for available numbers.

Regulatory Requirements

Some countries require documentation before numbers can be activated. Common requirements include:

  • Business registration documents
  • Proof of address
  • Government-issued ID
  • Emergency address declaration

If a country has regulatory requirements, VoiceCenter will indicate this during the purchase flow. You may need to submit documents through the Regulatory section before numbers can be activated.

Numbers in countries with strict regulations may take longer to provision. Plan ahead if you need numbers in regulated markets. The provider will communicate any documentation requirements.

Best Practices

  • Request numbers in the same country and area code as your target audience for higher answer rates
  • Order local numbers for regional presence and toll-free numbers for national support lines
  • Keep a few spare numbers in your account for campaigns or seasonal spikes
  • Track your number requests so you know when new numbers become available
