How Billing Works

VoiceCenter uses a prepaid billing model:

  1. Usage is rated. Every call is matched against your rate deck and a cost is calculated using the real rating engine.
  2. Wallet is debited. Call costs are deducted from your prepaid wallet balance.
  3. Invoices are generated. Periodic invoices summarize usage charges, number fees, and any adjustments.
  4. Top-up when needed. Add funds manually or configure auto-recharge to maintain a minimum balance.

Billing Scope

Billing data is tenant-scoped:

  • Client portal — You see only your own invoices, wallet, and payment methods.
  • Provider portal — Provider administrators see billing across all clients.

Key Billing Concepts

ConceptDescription
Rate DeckA table of per-destination call prices. Tenant-specific decks override global rates.
WalletYour prepaid account balance. Calls are billed against this balance.
InvoiceA periodic summary of charges with a downloadable PDF.
Auto-RechargeAutomatically tops up your wallet when the balance drops below a threshold.

Payment processing (card charges and auto-recharge) uses Stripe and is fully built but stays dormant until Stripe API keys are configured on the server. Until then, the billing pages show a "not configured" state for payment features.

Rate decks that determine call pricing are configured by the provider. To understand how your calls are priced, visit the Rates page under Voice.
